Audit user actions and login info in ICN

As the Microsoft office add-on is a separately licensed feature to use within the ICN Virtual viewer, our client required to list out the users who use the viewer to view the office documents.


As an application support team, we do not have a way to audit this. It would be good to have feature in ICN that is configurable to enable auditing for certain user actions and functions such as

  • Login - who logged in to ICN

  • Display Image in Viewer - that should provide repo type (p8, od, cmis etc), document Id, mime type, userId, User name,

  • Search - search template name executed, critieria used

  • Download Doc - User, document Id, mime type, repo type etc

  • Viewer toolbar action - Print: user printed, document id, mime type, repo type

  • Viewer toolbar action - Save: user downloaded, document id, mime type, repo type

The audit information can be initially provided in the logging so that Splunk dashboards can be built around it, and later ICN can offer a separate DB schema for audit support similar to Task manager DB.
